Speed Networking Speed networking is like speed dating for professionals. It evolves from the speed-dating model of meeting a large number of people in a short amount of time. Speed networking is a structured process for facilitating introductions and conversations between people who don't know each other. • Both participants should share a brief “Marketing Pitch” that includes their name, education, work experience and professional goals • The volunteer can offer advice or ask follow up questions • The job seeker can also ask questions to learn more about the volunteer • Effective speed networking feels like a conversation • Volunteers and jobseekers will rotate every 5 minutes
The program will conclude with participants sharing best practices and recommendations. Upwardly Global staff and PEPCO will ensure volunteers receive the guidance to have a successful experience.

Agenda 4:00 – Jobseeker/Volunteer Registration (and refreshments) 4:15 - Pepco Hiring Process Review – UpGlo jobseekers will learn from a Pepco Recruiter about general recommendations when applying for jobs at Pepco and general job search strategies. A general overview will be great for our jobseekers and time for some questions. 4:30 – Brief Presentation on UpGlo and short training on events logistics 5:00 - Speed Networking - 10x5 Speed Networking 5:50 - Q&A UpGlo Jobseeker Benefits This event is meant to give job seekers practical experience with the U.S. networking process and get advice and feedback from the volunteer. The job seekers will come prepared with their “marketing or elevator pitch”. It is meant to be a comfortable environment; in which volunteers give feedback after the networking interaction.
