In the thirty-seven years since the restoration of U.S.-China academic relations in 1978, enormous progress has been made in China’s domestic educational system and in U.S.-China educational relations. Of course, there also have been periodic bumps in the road along the way, recent ones including Confucius institutes, academic freedom, and the effect of western values in the Chinese educational milieu. In this panel discussion, several keen observers of U.S.-China educational exchanges and educational developments in China will examine current trends in China’s domestic educational and propaganda system, the many positive stakes that both societies have in an ever-strengthening intellectual and cultural relationship, and U.S. interests and policy as we move into the future.
We hope that you will join us for a discussion of these issues that are so important to China’s development and the U.S.-China relationship Reception follows the presentation Please RSVP by click here |
