A Response to Your Petition About Investigating and Deporting Jasmine Sun Thanks for signing this petition concerning Jasmine Sun, a suspect in a Thallium poison murder case in China. Zhu Ling's poisoning in 1995 was a tragedy. No young person deserves to suffer as she has, and we can understand the heartbreak of those close to her. We decline, however, to comment on the specific request in your petition. As the We the People Terms of Participation explain, to "avoid the appearance of improper influence, the White House may decline to address certain procurement, law enforcement, adjudicatory, or similar matters properly within the jurisdiction of federal departments or agencies, federal courts, or state and local government." That said, we encourage you to use the We the People platform to petition the Administration to take action on the policy issues you care about. If a petition gets enough support, White House staff will review it, ensure that it's sent to the appropriate policy experts for their review, and issue an official response. Follow @WeThePeople on Twitter all day long for a series of Q+As with various Administration officials on the petition responses we released today. Tell us what you think about this response and We the People. |
