CAPA组织2016年教育委员会候选人见面会Chinese American Parent Association of Howard County (CAPA, 哈维郡华裔家长联合会)将组织举办2016年教育委员会候选人见面会。

2016 年大选在即,Howard County的华裔家长在关注着教育局委员(BOE)的选举。大家越来越意识到BOE的政策制定和我们孩子的教育息息相关,而我们作为家长,社区成员和纳税人有权利也有义务选出能提高教育水准,有效使用资金,促进社区发展及代表我们利益的BOE委员。同时,参与BOE选举也可以使我们家长学习美国的民主选举制度和运行过程,和孩子一起成长为美国的合格公民,真正成为这个社会的主流。
4月26日是马里兰primary选举日,BOE候选人将参加第一轮选举,从11位参选人中选出6位进入下一轮。11月8日大选日,这6位候选人将竞争3个BOE委员的位子。
为了便于大家深入了解候选人,CAPA向11位候选人发出了邀请,他们将在见面会上做自我介绍,并回答我们事先准备好的问题,之后有自由问答时间,任何与会者都可以向候选人提问。下面是暂定的见面会日程安排。

通过这次见面会,我们希望能增进华裔家长对候选人的了解,在选举时能做出更好地判断,不盲目地投票。同时我们也希望BOE候选人能了解我们的诉求,看到我们对学校事务的深度关切,为将来的有效沟通开通渠道。
希望大家积极参加见面会,非公民也可参加,并欢迎带学龄孩子参加。为维持会场秩序,请不要带学龄前儿童来会场。

HCPSS BOE Candidates Forum Hosted by CAPA
Chinese American Parent Association (CAPA) of Howard County will be hosting a BOE Candidate Forum.

The 2016 primary election is quickly approaching. Eleven BOE candidates have filed for the primary election onTuesday, April 26, 2016. The top 6 candidates will proceed to the general election on November 8, 2016. The voters will choose 3 of them to fill openseats on the seven-member board.
Education is one of the top priorities for the Asian American families. CAPA has invited all the candidates for the HCPSS Board of Education to participate in a forum on Sunday, April 10, 2016. The event is designed to help Chinese American parents to understand the candidate's vision for the Howard County Public School system, particularly their position on policies that are of great concern to Chinese American parents.
