Speaker Biosketches
The Honorable Samuel Tinsing Mok is the managing member of Condor International Advisors, LLC, a management consulting firm that specializes in providing management advisory services to American companies in the Federal market and to Pacific oriented companies with a China focus. Mr. Mok is also the president of National China Garden Foundation, the chairman of the executive advisory board at School of Business and Public Administration of University of District of Columbia, an elected fellow at National Academy of Public Administration, and a board member of Fordham University School of Business.
Previously, Mr. Mok served as a presidential appointed and Senate confirmed chief financial officer of the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) from 2002 to 2007. After receiving an honorable discharge as a captain in the U.S. Army, while stationed at U.S. Military Academy at West Point, he served a tour of duty as a Foreign Service officer at the East Asian and Pacific Affairs Bureau of the State Department. Mok earned a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from Fordham University and a Master of Arts degree in accounting from the Catholic University of America.
Mike Nie, DTM, CFA, CPA, MBA Mike has over nineteen years of professional experiences in financial and accounting industry. He now works as a Branch Chief at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, Division of Trading and Market, dealing with the broker-dealer regulatory matters. Before that, Mike held leadership positions at the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board and PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP. Mike is a Chartered Financial Analyst charter-holder and a Certified Public Accountant in Virginia. He also obtained an MBA degree in finance from Robert H. Smith Business School at the University of Maryland.
Mike holds the “Distinguished Toastmaster” credential, and has been a Toastmasters member since 2008. In his spare time, Mike coaches youth in public speaking and leadership skills at his sons’ Fairfax County elementary school and through an online program (Speak to Lead LLC). He also coaches Chinese professionals in accent reduction, resume polishing, interview preparation and business writing.
Michael Zhuang, Ph.D., is the founder and principal of MZ Capital Management. He is a financial advisor helping clients build wealth by day, and a father, a husband, a producer, a comedian and a improviser by night. He is passionate about living an awesome life.
Harry Yang, Ph.D., is Senior Director and Head of Statistical Sciences at MedImmune. He is also the Vice Chair of USP Statistics Expert Committee and has participated in industry initiatives related to Quality by Design, analytical method development and validation, and sterile drug product bioburden testing. He is a frequent invited speaker at national and international conferences and workshops. He was also invited to develop statistical courses and conduct the training at the US Food and Drug Administration, United States Pharmacopoeia, Chinese Food and Drug Administration, and Peking University. Harry has published 3 statistical books and close to 100 peer-reviewed papers and book chapters. He received his BS and MS degrees in Applied Mathematics from Peking University, and Ph.D.in Statistics from the University of Pittsburgh.
