COMPTROLLER-ELECT BROOKE LIERMAN ANNOUNCES ANNAPOLIS, MD - On Thursday, Comptroller-elect Brooke Lierman announced the leadership team and structure for her transition. Lierman announced Comptroller Peter Franchot, Prince George’s County Executive Angela Alsobrooks, and State Senator Susan Lee (District 16) as Honorary Chairs of the transition team. Treasurer Nancy Kopp, State Delegate Joseline Peña-Melnyk (District 21), and Candace Dodson-Reed (Chief of Staff to the President at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County) will serve as Committee Co-Chairs. “I am extremely grateful to each of my transition chairs. They are all incredible leaders who bring unique and important experience to the table,” Comptroller-elect Lierman said. “I am pleased and proud to have their support and counsel as I work to ensure that the Comptroller’s office is set up for success on day one. Over the coming weeks, I look forward to creating a roadmap together that is rooted in a shared vision to create a more modern, accessible, and proactive Comptroller’s Office.” The Chairs will help set the agenda and guide the work of several transition subcommittees, which will parallel the key functions of the Comptroller’s office. The transition chairs also announced six work groups: 1) Procurement & the Board of Public Works, 2) Tax Administration & Customer Engagement, 3) Data & Innovation, 4) Pensions, 5) Public Engagement, 6) Local Government Engagement. Each work group will be chaired by three or four experts in the respective subject areas that represent a broad array of Marylanders. The complete leadership roster is included below. “I am so proud to be one of the Honorary Co-Chairs for Comptroller-elect Brooke Lierman’s Transition Committee,” said Prince George’s County Executive Angela Alsobrooks. “I was proud to support Brooke’s campaign and her vision to expand opportunities for businesses and everyday Marylanders through the Comptroller’s Office. As the County Executive for the second-largest jurisdiction in Maryland, I look forward to ensuring local governments have a seat at the table under Comptroller-elect Brooke Lierman.” The transition process will bring together stakeholders from across the state to advise Comptroller-elect Lierman on current challenges and future opportunities for the office, as well as provide recommendations for next steps that can be implemented immediately, by the first year mark, and by the end of the first term. The final result of the transition process will be a comprehensive, transparent report that will guide strategic planning, priorities, and actions for the Comptroller’s office over the next four years. Comptroller-elect Lierman campaigned on a promise to be inclusive and transparent and these remain key tenants of her vision to ensure that the Comptroller’s office is best positioned to serve all Marylanders effectively. Sustainability will also guide the work of the transition team, as Lierman seeks to re-imagine and build a solid foundation in the Comptroller’s office that will set Maryland up for success not only for the next four years, but for the next forty years. “My senior leadership team and I are firmly committed to a smooth transition and to assist in any way to ensure the success of Comptroller-elect Lierman," Comptroller Franchot said. "I look forward to working closely with the Comptroller-elect and her transition team in the coming weeks as she prepares to take office in January.” “It was so exciting to see people across the state embrace Comptroller-elect Lierman’s vision for the office when I served as her campaign treasurer. It is my honor to continue to work with her and the transition team as she ensures that vision is a reality for all Marylanders,” added co-chair Candace Dodson-Reed.
