Caught in the Middle?
Washington, DC — United Chinese Communities will host a press conference with Dr.
Xiaoxing Xi and Ms. Sherry Chen on Tuesday, September 15, 2015, to share their
stories about being wrongly charged by the U.S. government.
WHAT: This is about the stories of two distinguished
Chinese American scientists who were wrongly charged by their own government of

dropped the charges against Sherry Chen earlier this year, but are now
terminating her federal employment.
Federal authorities had similarly charged Dr. Xi, Chair of the Physics
Department of Temple University and a top scientist in his academic field. On Last Friday afternoon, prosecutors dropped
charges against him. Asian American and
civil rights organizations are now calling for investigations into these two
and other similar cases for probable civil rights violations.
WHO: Dr. Xiaoxing Xi,
Ms Sherry Chen, Congressman Ted Lieu and other Members of Congress (over
phone), Peter Zeidenberg (defense lawyer at Arent Fox, LLP), Dr. Jeremy Wu of
Committee of 100, and Haipei Shue, United Chinese Communities. Representatives of Asian American and civil
rights organizations will also be present.
WHEN: Tuesday, September 15, 2015, 3:30-4:30 PM. Presentation followed by a
reception.
WHERE: Arent Fox, LLP, 1717 K Street NW, Washington DC,
