Deadline to apply is Friday, July 1 at 5:00 p.m. County Executive Kittleman seeks professional engineer for Design Advisory Panel
ELLICOTT CITY, MD – Howard County Executive Allan H. Kittleman is currently seeking Professional Engineers (PE) who are interested in serving on the Design Advisory Panel (DAP).
To be eligible for consideration, candidates must be a registered PE, a Howard County resident, have an interest in improving architecture and site design in the County, and be able to attend the Panel’s evening meetings generally held the second and fourth Wednesday of each month at 7:30 p.m at the George Howard Building, 3430 Court House Drive in Ellicott City.
Applicants should send a resume and brief letter explaining why they want to serve on the Panel to David Lee either by email to dklee@howardcountymd.gov or by mail to: Howard County Government, Office of the County Executive, Attn: David Lee, 3430 Court House Drive, Ellicott City, MD 21043. Eligible applicants will be interviewed and the name of the selected candidate will be sent to the County Executive for final approval, who will then submit his appointment to the County Council for confirmation. The deadline to apply is Friday, July 1 at 5:00 p.m.
Established in 2008 to encourage excellence in building architecture and site design, DAP is composed of seven members representing landscape architects, designers, professional engineers and urban planners. Panel members are responsible for reviewing a variety of projects, including proposed subdivisions, site development plans, conditional use applications or design guidelines. The DAP’s duties and responsibilities are prescribed by law, and include making recommendations that are consistent with the requirements of the following: County’s adopted Zoning Code, the Route 1 Manual, Route 40 Design Manual, compatibility criteria for age-restricted adult housing, New Town Village Center design guidelines or Downtown-wide Design Guidelines or Downtown Neighborhood Design Guidelines for Downtown Columbia Revitalization, and Clarksville Pike Streetscape Plan and Design Guidelines.
